Overview
Custom Validation allows you to define a set of allowable values for a User Defined Field (UDF). After validation values are created, the field appears as a dropdown list when completing a Work Order of that Type.
Before you begin
A UDF must be recaptioned before it can use Custom Validation. This exposes the field in the Custom Validation list.
Add Custom Validation
Select the Gear icon in the top navigation bar, and then select Admin Mode.
Select Asset & Work Management > Work Order Types.
In the Work Order Type Finder, select the Work Order Type you want to configure, and then select View.
Select the Field Configuration card.
Locate a User Defined Field (UDF) and select the Edit icon.
Enter a value in Caption, and then select Save. This exposes the UDF in the Custom Validation list.
- Reopen the Work Order Type by selecting View again. This refreshes the available UDF list for validation.
Select the Custom Validation card. The UDF you recaptioned now appears in the list.
Select the Edit icon for the UDF you want to configure.
Select Create.
Enter the desired Value(s) and optionally add Description(s) for clarity.
Select Save to finalize the list.
- Repeat the steps to add additional validation values as needed.
- Click Save to confirm changes to the work order type.
The selected UDF now presents a validated dropdown list on Work Orders of this Type.
